ILI-ILI TULOG ANAY

ILI-ILI TULOG ANAY

Ili ili tulog anay,
Wala diri imong Nanay,
Kadto tienda. bakal papay,
Saging, gatas, kag kalagmay
(Ili ili tulog anay)

Mata ka na tabangan mo,
Ikarga ang nakumpra ko,
Kay bug-at man sing putos ko,
Tabangan mo ako anay (Dingcong & Ferraris, 2011)

Translation:

Little one, sleep now
Your mother is not here,
She went to buy some bread
Banana, milk, and sugar (Little one, sleep now.)

Wake up now and help me
Please carry the things I have bought
Because my bag is heavy
Please help me now (Dingcong & Ferraris, 2011)

DECONSTRUCTION OF ILI-ILI TULOG ANAY
Ili-ili Tulog Anay is a popular Hiligaynon or Ilonggo lullaby whose composer is no longer known but has been adopted by many generations that is why it still survives until now. It had been featured in the horror movie White Lady. There are two versions of the first stanza’s last line. “Ili- ili tulog anay” in the parenthesis is more popularly sang than the “Saging, gatas, kag kalagmay”. Ili-ili Tulog Anay is still a surviving folk song which continues to put children to sleep.
Feminist literary criticism evaluates the roles and relations of men and women in literature including the patriarchal language and masculine ideology; and their relative status, positioning, marginalization and the gender stereotyping within literary works (Teoryang Pampanitikan, n.d.).
In the first stanza of Ili-ili Tulog Anay, it tells of a person putting a child to sleep. It was easily revealed that the mother is not the one doing so since it had been directly told in the second verse. Women in households usually do buying the groceries for the family. Nowadays, women do every kind of work there is just to feed their families. It does not matter whether the work is male-dominated for as long as she will earn money, she will do it. Even if it means being away from her child/children, she will do it. A woman who is truly devoted to her family will do everything for them at all costs. That is why many women today who work abroad or locally but still very far from their families endure the agony of not seeing their children grow up.
In the second stanza, it tells of the mother’s coming home, waking someone up asking for help to carry the things she bought because they were heavy. In the first stanza, the question left was: who is putting the baby to sleep? It could be the father who would tend to the baby in some occasions. It could also be someone outside the family, like a nanny. But typically, it would have to be the nanny who would be buying the groceries especially if there is a baby whom the mother should attend to primarily. Obviously, the baby wouldn’t be the one to be awakened but rather, the one cradling him/ her. Seeing the father as the most probable cradler, there are only two possible explanations: first, it would have to be that the father is taking a day off from work, thus has to attend to the baby while the mother is busy buying groceries; second, the father has no job and the mother is the breadwinner of the family.

UNITED BY THE WALL

There are walls built to divide,
but Intramuros unites...

One scorching hot, bright and sunny but partly cloudy day, seven brave girls invaded the Intramuros, or The Walled City, Manila’s original fortress. Searching for the perfect photos to illustrate Intramuros, the Mocha Girls posed almost everywhere.
Walking the pavements, I realized Intramuros still stands for a reason: it remains a symbol of the fortress that encloses the many secrets of Philippine History. It is also a portrait of the Philippines today. Law serves as the fortress which the major criminals get past into untouched by the fangs legislation ought to have. What’s more dangerous is you don’t know the real criminals. Entering the Philippine law, breaking it  again and again and discreetly crossing the line safely and soundly. The place has changed a lot since it was first built. The Philippine politics hadn’t.
Despite this, there are also many lessons these photos of Intramuros could teach the Mocha Girls and many other people. One is that the longer the friendship is, the more beautiful it becomes just like the hundreds of years the ruins of Intramuros endured. Friendship shelters. It opens doors. It is a fountain of joy, blessings and love.
No matter how a place might be unremarkable for you, it wouldn’t matter if you have got friends who can turn it into a circus. With a parade of pictures and poses and laughter and smiles despite the aching pain of the feet from walking around Intramuros like a machine, the journey will still be worth your while. After all, it’s not always the destination that counts. It’s the faces you meet and the people you’re with.

WHY MASS COMM STUDENTS SHOULD WATCH SEN. RAMON “BONG” REVILLA JR.’S “ITO BA ANG DAANG MATUWID?”

1.      ACTING IS A DEVOTION

He proves himself once more. Once again, he demonstrates his exceptional talent as an actor complete with full on facial expressions and gestures and well, who can deny his good looks. He’s such a natural! It’s amazing to watch him in that podium. He not only acts in front of the camera but also off camera. What passion and dedication! He never stops giving entertainment to people even if the duty does not call for him to do so.

2.      HE IS A MODEL OF CHILDREN’S EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION
He is a loves his family. He loves them so much rather than answering allegations involving him in the pork barrel scam, he discusses his family instead.
"Bong" Revilla Jr. (2014) emotionally said that:

"sa kabila ng pagyurak sa aking pagkatao, sa kabila ng pagkitil sa aking mga karapatan, sa kabila ng halos pagwasak sa aming buong angkan; kinimkim ko po ang nilalaman ng aking kalooban sa loob ng mahigit limang buwan" (para. 7).
And the man’s got a toy! What child wouldn’t want that? We’ll playing’s not an alien term for the senators since you can see them clicking through their tablets plating some of Facebook’s most popular games even when someone’s giving his or her privilege speech. But this one is a truck. And it’s not just a simple truck, it’s a truck of justice!
“Sa tamang diskarte, nagawan naman ng paraan, Mr. President...to the pages... pakipasok nyo na ang trak ng ebidensya! Ito po ang sinasabi nilang isang trak ng ebidensiya. Ito lang naman pala. Trak-trakan ng mga bata” (Revilla Jr., 2014, para. 83-84).
3.      Know your target audience
He clearly knows his target audience as he mentioned and called on and appealed on his fellow men numerous times and he never forgets how many they are. It is important to appeal to them in a language they can understand so that they may get the meaning of your rhetorics. And because he is an actor, he knows the ways of persuasion- and Bible verses are the best way to emphasize your righteousness. Amen.
“Isinusumpa ko sa halos dalawampung milyong botante na nagtiwala at bumoto sa akin, hindi po ako nagtraydor sa inyo” (Revilla Jr., 2014, para. 40).
4.      Identify the show’s characters

The whistleblowers have already identified three characters: Alyas Pogi, Tanda and Sexy. Now thanks to our good Senator “Bong”, we have found out that the show also casts many interesting characters.
DILG Secretary Mar Roxas a.k.a Boy Pick-up- the one who picked up senators before former Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona’s trial to go to Bahay Pangarap and talk to Mr. President (Revilla Jr., 2014, para. 110).
Boy Xerox- DBM official who fakes SARO (Revilla Jr., 2014, para. 26)
Boy Pirma- is Benhur Luy, pork barrel scam’s primary whistleblower who faked document signatures (Revilla Jr., 2014, para. 26)
Jukebox King and Queen- Benhur Luy’s minions (Revilla Jr., 2014, para. 29)
http://static.rappler.com/images/benhur-luy-20131025-01.jpg

Now what is the significance of these characters to Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.’s show? To show that he’s a hero just like Panday and he is just trying to help the people but instead, what does he get? An accusation. Very well-played. He is indeed Kap who has conjured many amazing stories just to get away and divert the people’s attention.
5.      Know that there are a lot of utter bullshit shows in our government so don’t forget to filter them
His whole speech was crap. It was full of acting, insincerity and garbage. He was lame, pathetic and very diverting. He never actually did the purpose why he was doing that speech. Instead he talked about Yolanda, earthquake and war. The only things I found to be of some use from his speech was the Boy Pick-up part, otherwise, everything in it were just mere nothing. I liked it because they are already spilling out their dirty secrets. But the things he mentioned especially the part where he always asked in the end “’Yan ba ang daang matuwid”, was utter crap (Revilla Jr., 2014, para. 62- 72). I don’t think all those things are sole responsibilities by the president. If so, what’s their use? He blamed everything to the president forgetting the fact that he is a part of the administration. And as such, he ought to help in the embitterment of the Philippines. But no, he just delivered his speech in front of millions of Filipinos like a real douchebag.

ANG AGA-AGA, ANG KATI-KATI

ang pagmamahal…bow

Wala sa hitsura, wala sa yaman
Wala sa tikas, wala sa katawan
Wala sa talino o kabaitan
Wala... Wala ka dapat dahilan

Minahal kita nang di ko alam
Minahal kita dahil di ko alam
Minahal kita kahit bawal
Minahal kita...at masarap magmahal

Yun pala napakapilyo mo!

Nagpapasalamat ako nang lubos sa iyo
Sa pagtitiwala ng ilang sikreto mo
Sa pagbubukas ng sarili mo
Sa isang taong katulad ko

 Marami man tayong di pagkakaintindihan

Maghihiwalay man tayo balang araw
